    Vote for The State’s Midlands high school football Player of the Week: Aug. 26 poll

    It’s time to vote in our poll for The State’s high school football Player of the Week from Midlands-area schools and games played Aug. 23-24.

    Voting ends Friday at noon, and the winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter/X page that afternoon.

    Below are the nominees and the poll, and you can vote as many times as you like. (Remember that this poll is not scientific and meant to be just for fun.)

    This Week’s Player of Week nominees

    Brady Albro, QB, Chapin: Senior was 24-of-40 passing for 301 yards and four touchdowns in win over Catawba Ridge.

    Michael Boulware, LB, Gray Collegiate: Junior had 13 tackles, tackle for loss, a sack, quarterback pressure in win over James Island.

    AJ Brand, QB, Irmo: Virginia Tech commitment was 14-of-18 passing for 220 yards, three touchdowns and rushed nine times for 75 yards and a TD in win over Oceanside Collegiate.

    Carter Coleman, WR, Blythewood: Junior had five catches for 105 yards, a touchdown and also had a 84-yard kickoff return for a score in the win over Nation Ford.

    Caleb Ford, RB, Cardinal Newman: Senior carried it 33 times for 302 yards and three touchdowns, and caught two passes for 67 yards in loss to St. Joseph’s. He has more than 700 yards rushing in CN’s first two games of the season.

    William Geddis, OL/LB, Swansea: Junior graded out at 87% on the offensive line with a pancake and six knockdown blocks. On defense, he had three tackles and a QB pressure.

    Jordon Gidron, WR, Ridge View: Junior had nine catches for 55 yards, three carries for 26 yards and a TD, and also had an 80-yard kickoff return for a score.

    Aaron Griffin, WR, River Bluff: Senior caught seven passes for 81 yards and also had a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a win over Rock Hill.

    Jake Jeffrey, DE, Northside Christian: Senior had 12 tackles, three sacks, six quarterback pressures and a caused fumble in a win over Calhoun Academy.

    Tyrone Jennings, DL, White Knoll: Sophomore had 10 tackles in win over Camden.

    Jordan Joe, WR/DB, North Central: Senior picked off three passes and also caught four passes for 28 yards and a TD in a win over Great Falls.

    Sam Johnson, DL, Lower Richland: Senior had nine tackles, four sacks and three tackles for loss in defeat to Lugoff-Elgin.

    Matthew McAuley, RB/LB, Lexington: Senior rushed for a TD, had 11 tackles and two pass break-ups in win over Gilbert.

    EJ Richardson, WR, Lugoff-Elgin: Sophomore caught a TD, returned a kickoff for touchdown and threw the game-winning touchdown with 16.5 seconds in win over Lower Richland. Richardson finished with 225 all-purpose yards.

    Andrew Turner, QB, Hammond: Senior was 11-of-15 passing for 139 yards, a TD and carried it 16 times for 110 yards and TD in a win over Christ Church.

    Devon Wallace, DE/TE Saluda: Senior had six tackles, four sacks in win over Crescent.

    Roper Wentzky, QB, AC Flora: Junior was 14-of-18 for 157 yards and four touchdowns in win over Westwood.

    Will Wilson, QB, Richland Northeast: NC State commitment was 9-of-10 passing for 210 yards, carried it eight times for 100 yards and five total touchdowns in win over Spring Valley.

    Justin Wright, QB, Columbia: Senior carried it 14 times for 127 yards and a touchdown, and was 2-of-3 passing for 42 yards in win over CA Johnson.
