    • ESPN’s “College GameDay” and other festivities: Saturday marks USC’s the eighth time hosting “College GameDay” live from Columbia and the 10th time the Gamecocks have appeared on the show. It’s the first Columbia-based broadcast since Steve Spurrier was head coach. USC will also recognize former quarterback Tommy Suggs before kickoff and honor the 2023-24 national champion women’s basketball team at halftime.

    • Forward momentum?: South Carolina’s 31-6 victory at Kentucky last week was the largest road win under Shane Beamer. He was adamant after the game that the win was proof of what those within the program already knew, which is that USC has a good football team. Can South Carolina ride last week’s triumph to its first win over LSU since the turn of the century?

    • Ranked meeting: South Carolina received votes in both The Associated Press and coaches’ polls this week. LSU is ranked No. 16 and 17, respectively, in each. If the Gamecocks are able to keep their undefeated record intact, they may find themselves inside the Top 25 next week.
