    Multiple bodies found inside vehicle by deputies responding to shooting, SC cops say

    The bodies of two South Carolina men were found late Saturday night, and the deaths are being investigated as a double homicide, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department .

    On Monday, 40-year-old Lexington resident Corey B. Johns and 37-year-old Columbia resident Jibaris J. Veal were identified as the victims by Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford.

    At about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a report of a shooting in the 300 block of Koon Store Road , the sheriff’s department said Sunday afternoon in a news release. That’s in a more rural part of Columbia between U.S. 21/Wilson Boulevard and S.C. 215/Monticello Road.

    Deputies found the bodies inside a vehicle, according to the release.

    No other injuries were reported.

    There was no word about a shooter or shooters, or if anyone else was involved in the gunfire. Information about a motive for the shooting was not available.

    No arrests have been reported by the sheriff’s department, which said it’s continuing to investigate the deaths.
