Vote for The State’s Midlands high school football Player of the Week: Sept. 23 poll

It’s time to vote in our poll for The State’s high school football Player of the Week from Midlands-area schools and games played in Week 5.

Voting ends Friday at noon, and the winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter/X page that afternoon.

Below are the nominees and the poll, and you can vote as many times as you like. (Remember that this poll is not scientific and meant to be just for fun.)

Brady Albro, QB, Chapin: Senior was 25 of 48 passing for 425 yards and three touchdowns in a loss to Summerville.

Blake Betette, WR, Richland Northeast: Junior caught 11 passes for 140 yards and a TD in a win over Camden.

Jaiden Bryant, DE, Irmo: Sophomore had seven tackles, two sacks, caused fumble and had a rushing touchdown in a win over Myrtle Beach.

Montieth Brown, RB Mid-Carolina: Junior had seven carries for 164 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Pelion.

Jayden Foulks, DB, Saluda: The senior had three tackles, picked off two passes and returned one for a touchdown in a win over Southside Christian.

Gary Gownes, RB/DB, Keenan: Senior rushed four times for 112 yards, two touchdowns, had two tackles, two pass break-ups and didn’t allow a catch in win over Orangeburg-Wilkinson.

DJ Green, LB, Swansea: Senior had 11 tackles, two sacks in a loss to Barnwell.

TyDarion Grier, RB, Fairfield Central: Senior carried it 31 times for 250 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Newberry.

Jaiden Haltiwanger, DB, Hammond: Senior picked off two passes in a win over Hilton Head Christian.

Trevor Hoffman, LB, Northside Christian: Senior had 21 tackles (four for loss) and a QB pressure in a win over Spartanburg Christian.

Montrelle Keys, LB, Airport: Senior had 10 tackles, two interceptions, a sack, four tackles for loss and three quarterback hurries in a win over Aiken.

Onis Konanbanny, WR/DB, Heathwood Hall: Tennessee commit had six catches for 135 yards, two touchdowns and also six tackles on defense in a come-from-behind win over Cardinal Newman.

Calab Levy, WR, Newberry: Senior had three catches for 90 yards and a TD, and returned an 85 kickoff return for a score in a loss to Fairfield Central.

BJ Montgomery, RB, Gray Collegiate: The senior had 228 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in a win over Midland Valley.

Rondrecus Peterson, LB, Columbia: Junior had seven tackles (five for loss) in a win over Wagener-Salley.

Jayce Rios, LB, Westwood: Senior linebacker had 16 tackles, one for loss and a forced fumble in a win over Blythewood.

Jayden Westbrook, WR, Dutch Fork: Senior caught two passes for 75 yards, a TD and also returned a punt for a touchdown in a win over Oceanside Collegiate.

Amadre Wooden, RB, Batesburg-Leesville: Junior carried it 13 times for 198 yards and three touchdowns in a win over Calhoun County.
