    SC couple was pulled over and faces charges more severe than a traffic violation, cops say

    A South Carolina couple was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop Monday, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office .

    Sumter residents Christopher Saxby, 46, and Candice Saxby, 36, were charged with several drug crimes after being pulled over, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday in a news release.

    A deputy saw a vehicle driven by Christopher Saxby on U.S. 15 South that had a license plate which belonged to another vehicle, according to the release.

    The deputy pulled over the vehicle and during a probable cause search found methamphetamine, fentanyl, and pills that are Schedule I and II narcotics, the sheriff’s office said.

    Both Christopher and Candice Saxby were taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and are being held awaiting a bond hearing, according to the release.

    Christopher Saxby was charged with possession with intent to distribute meth, possession of fentanyl, possession of Schedule I and II narcotics, driving under suspension, improper vehicle license and uninsured motor vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.

    Candice Saxby also was charged with possession of fentanyl, possession of Schedule I and II narcotics, possession with intent to distribute meth and an additional count of manufacture of meth (second offense), according to the release.
