    Hurricane Helene has left multiple roads closed across the Midlands due to fears of flooding, downed tress and power lines. Here are the latest updates:

    The Richland County Sheriff’s Department was urging all drivers to stay off the roads Friday morning as others may still be impassable.

    The town of Lexington reports roads are closed at:

    ▪ 2400 Mineral Springs Road

    ▪ South Lake Drive between Roberts Street and Third Avenue

    ▪ Elm Street between Roberts Street and Third Street

    ▪ South Church Street between Elm Street and Roberts Street

    ▪ Corley Street and Dreher Street

    ▪ Golden Hills neighborhood entrance, access at Morgan Drive

    West Columbia plots road closure on interactive map:

    West Columbia was tracking 25 road closures as of 10:30 a.m., posting updates to its interactive map .

    “We have a bunch of trees down across the whole town right now,” Mayor Tem Miles posted to Facebook. “There are more still falling. Our crews are working to clear them and open the roads as quickly as it can be done safely.”

    The South Carolina Department of Transportation is also tracking road closures across the state on an interactive online map.

    As of 10 a.m., Batesburg-Leesville reported that U.S. 1 near Leesville Methodist Church was completely blocked by a large tree, and U.S. 23 near Batesburg Baptist Church was also completely blocked.
