More than 15 of South Carolina university and technical college presidents are in line to receive pay increases, including a more than $64,000 raise for the College of Charleston president.

The proposed pay increases still need approval from a state commission.

Pay raises for agency leaders and college presidents are reviewed every few years. Agency Head Salary Commission have members said agency leader pay raises are based on a number of factors, including performance, tenure, expectations and comparisons to other agencies.

A group of commission members Thursday comprised of former state Sen. Greg Ryberg, state Sen. Kent Williams, D-Marion, and state Rep. David Weeks, D-Sumter, agreed to the recommended raises, which will then go to the full commission for approval.
