    Gray water dripping on chicken. Many roaches. Upstate restaurants with worst September inspections

    South Carolina health inspectors found multiple violations at restaurants in the Upstate in September, from roach infestations to water from a fridge dripping onto chicken wings. The state each month releases grades and inspection reports for food establishments across Upstate counties.

    Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings in September.

    Mexican Deli at 3131 N Main St. in Anderson

    Mexican Deli had an inspection on Sept. 19 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed roaches and dead bugs throughout the facility. Also observed was food with a green and black substance on it.

    Multiple dishes in the facility were seen unclean to sight and touch. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Non-contact food surfaces were seen with an accumulation of grime and debris on them.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Sept. 24 and got another C grade. A second followup inspection has not yet been held.

    Molina’s Mexican Restaurant at 2 Benton Road in Greenville

    Molina’s Mexican Restaurant had an inspection on Sept. 24 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed several buckets of sauce uncovered on the left side of the walk-in cooler, with uncovered pork on the right side.

    Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Two holes were seen in a wall behind a hand sink.

    A required followup inspection has not yet been held.

    Carnicereia Y Taqueria at 3401 White Horse Road in Greenville

    Carnicereia Y Taqueria had an inspection on Sept. 11 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed rodent droppings. Also observed the strong presence of flies.

    Several employees were seen changing tasks without handwashing. Grey water was seen dripping directly onto raw chicken wings in the walk-in freezer. Knives were seen not clean to sight and touch after washing.

    Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. A buildup of debris was seen on cooking equipment.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Sept. 20 and got an A grade.

    US Wings and Deli at 6134 White Horse Road in Greenville

    US Wings and Deli had an inspection on Sept. 19 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed employee handling ready to eat foods with bare hands.

    Food packages were seen on the floor of the walk-in cooler. Dirty food contact surfaces were observed.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Sept. 26 and got an A grade.

    Papas and Beer at 180 E Blackstock Road in Spartanburg

    Papas and Beer had an inspection on Sept. 16 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed flies around the storage room. Also observed was a worker dicing cilantro with no gloves.

    Raw chicken was seen stored above raw beef and fish. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Beef was seen thawing in a 55 gallon container of standing water. Dirty dishes were seen stored as clean.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on Sept. 17 and got an A grade.

    obvious that the one that got the same grade on the re-inspection, doesnt care and should have been closed ....

    of course they make it sound worse than it can be but I am sure there are more places than these that under perform . why do they not mention all of them.
