    Vote for The State’s Midlands high school football Player of the Week: Oct. 7 poll

    It’s time to vote in our poll for The State’s high school football Player of the Week from Midlands-area schools and games played last week.

    Voting ends Friday at noon, and the winner will be announced on Lou Bezjak’s Twitter/X page that afternoon.

    Below are the nominees and the poll, and you can vote as many times as you like. (Remember that this poll is not scientific and meant to be just for fun.)

    Player of Week Nominees

    Maurice Anderson, RB, Dutch Fork: Senior rushed for 65 yards and had five touchdowns, all in first half, in a win over Chapin.

    Matthew Blocker, DB, Irmo: Senior had seven tackles, one pass break-up and returned an interception for a TD in the win over Lexington.

    Johnny Collins, QB, Blythewood: Junior was 19-of-31 passing for 233 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Lugoff-Elgin.

    Tre Howard, QB, Ridge View: Sophomore was 13-of-21 passing for 300 yards and four touchdowns, carried it five times for 74 yards and two TDs in a win over Spring Valley.

    Ahmad Johnson, DB, Swansea: Senior had two interceptions and had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the win over Keenan.

    Hugh Manning, LB, AC Flora: Sophomore had 16 tackles (six for loss) and forced a fumble in a win over Lancaster.

    Nykeim McNeil, WR/DB, Keenan: Senior had five catches for 207 yards, two touchdowns and had six tackles in a loss to Swansea.

    Hayden Myers, RB, River Bluff: Junior carried it 28 times for 189 yards and a TD in the win over White Knoll.

    Andrew Turner, QB, Hammond: Senior was 8-of-9 passing for 221 yards, two touchdowns. He also ran for two TDs against Laurence Manning.

    Aiden Wiles, OL/DL, North Central: Senior graded out at 93 percent with four pancake blocks and rushed for a touchdown in the win over Chesterfield. On defense, he had 9.5 tackles (three for loss) and a sack.
