Something new is brewing in Forest Acres.

Lazy Daisy Coffee Co., a new locally owned coffee shop, is planning to open at 4615 Forest Drive in the Cardinal Crossing mixed-use development in Forest Acres, according to a news release. Construction on the shop is expected to begin this fall, with an opening slated for early 2025.

Lazy Daisy will, according to the release, “serve a variety of handcrafted coffee beverages, including espresso drinks, cold brews, and specialty lattes, along with an assortment of teas and fresh baked goods.”

The nearly 1,400-square-foot shop will have indoor seating, as well as an outdoor patio that will be pet-friendly.

Cardinal Crossing has continued to be a thriving commercial development in the heart of Forest Acres. It features a host of restaurants and businesses, including Yoga Six, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream , Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Clean Juice, and more. Fresh Mex restaurant concept Surcheros also is developing a location there. The development also is home to a 256-unit apartment complex called The Cardinal.

It’s in a high-traffic area, as more than 27,000 cars per day travel down Forest Drive, per the SC Department of Transportation.

The Lazy Daisy Coffee Co. announcement was the latest in a flurry of restaurant development news in Forest Acres. No Name Deli, long a favorite in the Elmwood Avenue area in Columbia, opened a second location this week at 4712-A Forest Drive. Meanwhile, Groucho’s Deli announced this week that it will be reopening its restaurant at 4717 Forest Drive in January.
