    Who is the next athlete of the week in the Springfield area?

    Here are the nominees for the State Journal-Register's athlete of the week.

    The poll closes at noon on Friday. Pana's Cash Lynch won last week's poll with 1,589 votes while Nokomis' Kinley Stolte was a close second with 1,571 votes.

    Thomas Garst, Sacred Heart-Griffin, boys soccer

    The senior scored two goals in a 3-0 victory over Williamsville to win the Four Corners Classic on Saturday and remain unbeaten at 7-0.

    Izzy Lynch, Pleasant Plains, volleyball

    The senior chalked up a team-best 11 digs and five aces in a 25-20, 25-23 victory over Taylorville on Tuesday.

    Gabe Lyons, New Berlin, football

    The senior running back totaled 149 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries to lift New Berlin to a 34-27 win over Auburn on Friday.

    Tucker Maguire, Litchfield, boys golf

    The junior shot 1-under-par 34 to win medalist honors and lead the Purple Panthers to a team victory in a five-team meet at Litchfield Country Club on Tuesday.

    Nolan Meyer, Carlinville, boys soccer

    The freshman tallied two goals and two assists in a 4-0 win over Raymond Lincolnwood on Tuesday before notching another goal in a 2-1 win over Litchfield to claim the Carlinville Kickoff Classic championship on Wednesday.

    Rylan Reimolds, Rushville-Industry, football

    The junior back scored two touchdowns and chewed up 162 yards on 12 carries in Rushville-Industry's 18-6 victory over Monmouth United. The Rockets finished with 271 ground yards.

    Gabe Smith, Lincoln, football

    The senior running back opened with a 51-yard TD catch before reeling off 128 rushing yards and two TDs on 21 carries in a 41-20 victory over Southeast on Saturday .

    Jae'Von Solomon, Southeast, football

    The senior receiver also scored three touchdowns in the Central State Eight Conference crossover game. He caught TD passes of 31 and 62 yards from sophomore QB Tony Boyd. He also returned an interception 24 yards for the other score.
