With schools across San Joaquin County preparing for end-of-year celebrations and graduations that means the final Martin Dentistry Athlete of the Week is here.

The 2023-24 school year has been filled with notable athletes who have left it all out on the field or court in their respective sports. From blue banner victories to competing on the state level, these final six Athletes of the Week nominations have shined and continued to put 209 prep sports on the map.

The poll includes athletes from the following spring sports: softball, baseball, and track and field. The poll can be found at the bottom of the story and closes on Friday.

Here are the candidates for May 20-26 (athletes listed in alphabetical order):

Luke Crivello, Ripon Christian, baseball: Crivello did everything he could in the Knights back-and-forth Sac-Joaquin Section Division 6 championship game vs. Leroy Greene Academy on May 21. The senior pitcher racked up seven batters and on the other side of the ball, two hits, two runs and two RBIs. Despite his efforts, Ripon Christian would fall in the last inning of the game losing to the Lions 12-11.

Brady Errecart, St. Mary’s, baseball: By the third inning of the Rams’ SJS Division 1 championship game vs. Rocklin their bats were on fire. Errecart was one of their key sluggers finishing the game with two hits, a run and an RBI helping his team capture the blue banner with a 6-1 victory over the Thunder. The junior will look to be a consistent hot bat as St. Mary’s goes on to the NorCal Championships.

Shayne Harris, Edison, track and field: Harris is out to prove she is one of the fastest sprinters in the state as she qualified for the 104th CIF State Track and Field Championship meet in the 100 and 200-meter events. On the first day of the meet, the senior finished in fifth place in the 100-meter race and eighth place in the 200-meter race.

Kenneth Moore III, St. Mary’s, track and field: The only SJ County track athlete to qualify for three events at the CIF State Track and Field Championship meet was Moore. He took home gold in the boys 4x100 and 4x400 relay events as well as a bronze in the 200-meter event. The sophomore will look to bring back more gold as he closes out the final day of the State meet on May 25.

Taylor Sansaver, Tracy, softball: Against Vacaville on May 21, Sansaver had Tracy’s hottest bat. The Bulldogs hosted the fellow Bulldogs as they battled for a spot in the SJS Division 2 finals and the freshman helped ensure her team’s 6-5 victory. She ended the game with a team-high three hits and two runs.

Clara Schoolland, Ripon, track and field: As just a sophomore, Schoolland was one of two Ripon athletes to qualify for the CIF State Track and Field Championship meet qualifying in the high jump event. On day one of the two-day meet, she finished in third place in the prelims with a score of 5’5" setting a personal record. She will look to jump for gold in the finals on May 25.
