As the weather cools down it's time to start thinking about fall and what better way to start the new season than with a tasty dish?

For our second poll, The Record wants to know who has the best pho in Stockton.

The Record has identified nine restaurants in Stockton with pho on their menus. The restaurant with the most votes will be profiled at the end of the two-week poll.

    What's pho?

Pho is a Vietnamese soup with broth, rice noodles, herbs, and meat. Pho or phở is pronounced "fuh."

"Most food historians trace the origins of pho to the late 19th century, when Vietnam was colonized by the French. Prior to the arrival of French colonizers, the Vietnamese did not eat beef (though they would occasionally eat water buffalo). Meat soups, however, were not uncommon in Vietnam at the time," the Encyclopaedia Britannica , a fact-checked online encyclopedia states. "It is thought that pho originated when Vietnamese villagers added French beef to the bánh đa cua, which likely occurred in northern Vietnam near the country’s capitol, Hanoi."

Vietnamese restaurants in Stockton serve pho with various protein options including beef, chicken and tofu.
