Stockton shooting claims life of man, 33; police investigating Thursday morning slaying

A man was killed early Thursday morning in Stockton, and investigators are working to uncover the motive behind the deadly shooting.

Stockton police responded at about 2:23 a.m. to the 100 block of East Iris Avenue , just north of East Hammer Lane, after dispatchers received a call reporting gunshots.

The first officers on scene found a 33-year-old man who had been shot. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died. He was identified as Princeton Holman, a Stockton resident, by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner's Office on Friday.

Evidence markers littered the ground while crime scene investigators and detectives searched for clues to solve the case in the early morning hours.

Police released no information about a possible motive or suspect descriptions.

The man's death marks the 34th homicide of the year in Stockton, according to Officer Omer Edhah, a spokesperson for the Stockton Police Department. At this time last year, there were 33 homicides, Edhah said.
