The Stokes County Schools Board of Education honored many student achievements at their May 20 meeting (see page A3), but also celebrated the folks that help make those achievements possible.

    Duke Energy Science Night

The Stokes County Board of Education recognized Duke Energy for the partnership in our schools.

The goal of the Duke Energy Science Night (DESN) program is to generate enthusiasm among students and families for science and technology by giving them a chance to explore science together through hands-on activities. Thanks to funding from the Duke Energy Foundation, the NC Science Festival (NCSciFest) is able to develop the resources and provide guidance to schools across the state that in turn provide the leadership, volunteers and venue to make their Science Night a success.

We are thrilled to announce that in this 10th year of Duke Energy Foundation sponsorship, their increased funding level enabled a total of 200 schools to receive sponsored kits! In addition, we are able to produce a number of kits for purchase at a price point that allows additional schools to participate in the program.
