    Tyndall wins gold medal with a 40

    WALNUT COVE—South Stokes girls’ golf team won their first match of the season with a four stroke lead over North Surry and an 11 stroke advantage over West Stokes.

    Senior Haley Tyndall was the gold medalist with a score of 40 on the nine hole course at Hemlock Golf Club.

    North Surry’s Emerson Puckett was second on the day with a score of 43, and West Stokes’ freshman Emily Glasgow was third with a 43.

    Rounding out the top 10 placers were Makayla Boles (SS) 50, Erin Moore (NS) 51, Cassidy Simmons (NS) 53, Victoria Smith (SS) 53, Hailey Fulp (WS) 55, Dacey Campbell (WS) 55 and Ivy Scott (SS) 56.

    South Stokes will be back in action again on Sept. 4 against Alleghany, and West Stokes will travel to Pilot Knob on Sept. 5.
