A breaking and entering involving the theft of several firearms was reported to the Stokes County Sheriff’s Office on June 2. The incident occurred at a Heaven Drive, Walnut Cove residence, according to the report, which lists seven firearms as stolen including an AK style rifle, two AR rifles, two Glock pistols and two revolvers, with a total value of $3,500. Also reported stolen was $200 in U.S. currency. Damage to a flat screen television, a camera monitor and exterior door was valued at $1,000. ...

DANBURY — The Stokes County Schools Board of Education will keep the district with an early start date as planned for the upcoming school year, though a judge's order in an eastern North Carolina county has raised some uncertainty about the ability to do so.
