SYLVA — The King Little League Juniors (14u) All Stars traveled to Sylva on July 6-7 to compete in the North Carolina Little League Juniors (14u) State Championship.

“This is the first year that King has entered a team in any level of postseason play in the juniors (14 and under) or seniors (16 and under) divisions in over 15 years,” said Head Coach Kevin Snyder, “and to my knowledge, the first time we have competed at the State Championship level.”

King lost 12-0 to Dilworth (Charlotte) on July 6 and lost 12-4 to Franklin County on July 7.

“While we are an extremely young division, seeing how far the players have come since we started this journey at the end of January, I couldn’t be more proud of them,” Snyder said. “They never gave up and fought with every ounce of confidence until the final out was made.”

Dilworth, which had defeated Franklin 35-0 on July 5, went on to defeat Franklin again 24-0 in the final round on July 8. Dilworth will advance to the Southeast Regional Tournament in Virginia July 18-22, and the winner of that tournament will advance to the Little League Juniors (14u) World Series.
