A military plane made an emergency landing at the Myrtle Beach International Airport on Thursday afternoon, Myrtle Beach Airport spokesperson Ryan Betcher said.

The military F-16 plane landed because it was leaking fuel. The aircraft made it to the ground safely and the passenger is OK, he said. The fire department is checking on the condition of the airplane.

Betcher did not know where the plane came from or where it was going.

An emailed statement Friday from Shaw Air Force Base said that the 20th Fighter Wing was conducting a routine training flight, which was diverted about 3 p.m. to the Myrtle Beach airport because the aircraft was leaking fuel. The pilot landed safely and the aircraft is still located at the airport pending maintenance.

A military F-16 plane is a single-person-single-engine military plane that has a “sophisticated tracking and weapon systems for the interception and attack of other aircraft,” according to U.S. Navy.

Ignorance and disrespect is everywhere. It’s a pilot not a passenger dumbass.
