How much are your property taxes? Horry County released a new tool to help you find out

A new tool to help Horry County residents understand how much their property taxes will be this fall has officially gone live.

This tool comes after this year’s state-required reassessment of homes, according to Horry County Public Information Officer Adrianna Seals.

The old calculator that was previously on the Horry County website used last year’s tax millages instead of this years, Seals previously said.

Based on the reassessment values, Seals said in a statement that approximately 88% of all real property in unincorporated Horry County will see a tax increase of $200 or less, with most people seeing an increase between $40 to $50.

These estimated increases are only for taxpayers who reside in unincorporated Horry County, she said. Other increases are possible for those who reside in municipalities with additional millages in place.

“It’s important to note that this is just an estimate of what the tax bill for the property would look like this year,” Seals said in a statement posted on the county’s official social media pages.

To figure out what you owe, you can input your property’s PIN number and the taxable value here.

Both of those values are available on the tax assessment notice, or through the Horry County Land Records Website.

“The estimator will use the information entered to show an estimate of what your property tax bill in the fall may look like at the 4% ‘legal residence’ and 6% ‘non-legal residence or commercial’ ratios,” the statement said. “The breakdown includes county, school and other millage such as special districts, fire, waste management, and watershed fees, where applicable. The estimator will include the municipality millage for properties where appropriate.”
