Overlooking Carolina Bays Parkway near Carolina Forest resides a sign. These signs are common, as with development ongoing throughout the Grand Strand area, posters frequently announce new communities , plots for sale, job hiring for construction operators, and other real estate transactions.

Indeed, this sign along Carolina Bays Parkway also announced a new development next to The Cottages at Myrtle Beach built-to-rent community. The new property would be a community built by DRB Homes, a national home builder.

It’s unclear what type of homes will be in the development.

DRB Homes Division Vice President of Sales & Marketing for Charleston Lindy Sfirlea did not return a request for comment before publication. DRB’s website doesn’t yet list a community on its website.

According to Horry County Land Records, DRB Group South Carolina, LLC bought the less than 12-acre tract for $3.3 million in July 2024. The property previously sold for two million dollars in June 2023.

According to the South Carolina Secretary of State’s office , DRB Group South Carolina, LLC’s registered agent is Marv McDaris — DRB Homes’ Greenville division president, based on his LinkedIn page.

The property isn’t DRB Homes’s first venture in the Grand Strand area in recent times. The Sun News reported in October 2024 that the firm would open a 72-home community in Longs, S.C., that would cater to the active adult community.

They need to stop all these home developments. This has a stop at some point.

Oh, come on. Enough is enough already. It's time to put a halt on all of this building without having all of the necessary infrastructure in place. This continuing increase of people and traffic are ruining the quality of life in Horry County.
