Myrtle Beach area high schools re-schedule football games for Hurricane Helene. What to know

While the main path of Hurricane Helene will miss the Myrtle Beach area, local high schools are rescheduling Friday football games as a precaution in case of inclement weather.

Myrtle Beach High School announced on X , formerly known as Twitter that its match-up with Cane Bay High School was rescheduled from Friday to Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.

Loris High School also announced via X that the Lion’s Friday away game at Socastee was also rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. Andrews High School also moved its Friday game against Hanahan High School to Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024, at 7:30 p.m.

WMBF News also reported that St. James High School’s game against Berkley and the Carvers Bay versus Green Sea Floyds contest was rescheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024.

The rescheduled games come as weather experts predict Hurricane Helene will barrel through the southeastern United States during the next several days. While the vestiges of Hurricane Helene could impact the Grand Strand, the storm will mostly pass by the Palmetto State.

According to the National Weather Service’s Thursday forecast, the hurricane’s path passing through the Florida Panhandle, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky.
