    Which of these 9 Myrtle Beach, SC area cities costs the most to live in? Take a look

    Cities in the Grand Strand spend less on monthly household bills than the national average, according to a national report.

    Bill payment company Doxo analyzed data from the U.S. Census Bureau and more than 10 million customers to examine consumer spending on household bills for its State by State Bill Pay Market 2024 report .

    The categories of monthly household bills include: mortgage, rent, alarms and security systems, cable and internet, auto loans, auto insurance, health insurance, life insurance and mobile phones.

    South Carolina ranked the 36th-most expensive state in the U.S. for these bills. While the average American household spends $2,126 a month on these bills, South Carolinians spend 10% less with a monthly average of $1,917.

    Relative to income, the average South Carolinian spends more than a third of their paycheck on these routine bills. The average money spent on household bills in the Palmetto State monthly is 35% of the average household income.

    Nine of the 98 South Carolina cities Doxo analyzed are in Horry or Georgetown County. In the Grand Strand, North Myrtle Beach is the most expensive for household bills, while Loris pays the least.

    North Myrtle Beach

    The average household in North Myrtle Beach spends an average of $2,009 per month on bills, accounting for 35% of income on average in the city.

    According to the report, household bills in North Myrtle Beach are 6% lower than the national average, meaning households pay $1,409 less per year on average.

    Little River

    $1,927 on average per household every month

    36th-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    Little River households spend about $1,927 per month on household bills, about 39% of the city’s average income.

    The report found that the Little River residents spend $2,391 — or 9% — less on household bills in a year than the national average.

    Murrells Inlet

    $1,900 on average per household every month

    41st-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    On average, households in Murrells Inlet households spend $1,900 on household bills, which account for 35% of the average income in the city.

    Household bills in Murrells Inlet are 11% lower than the national average, with residents paying $2,717 less than the average U.S. household annually.

    Pawleys Island

    $1,899 on average per household every month

    42nd-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    Similar to Murrells inlet, the average household in Pawleys Island spends an average of $1,899 per month on bills, accounting for 31% of income on average in the city.

    According to the report, household bills in Pawleys Island are 11% lower than the national average, meaning households pay $2,729 less per year on average.

    Longs

    $1,855 on average per household every month

    44th-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    Longs households spend about $1,855 per month on household bills, about 38% of the city’s average income.

    The report found that the Longs residents spend $3,247 — or 13% — less on household bills in a year than the national average.

    Georgetown

    $1,800 on average per household every month

    52-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    On average, households in Georgetown households spend $1,800 on household bills, which account for 43% of the average income in the city.

    Household bills in Georgetown are 15% lower than the national average, with residents paying $3,908 less than the average U.S. household annually.

    Myrtle Beach

    $1,790 on average per household every month

    54th-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    The average household in Myrtle Beach spends an average of $1,790 per month on bills, accounting for 35% of income on average in the city.

    According to the report, household bills in Myrtle Beach are 16% lower than the national average, meaning households pay $4,033 less per year on average.

    Conway

    $1,716 on average per household every month

    63rd-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    Conway households spend about $1,716 per month on household bills, about 37% of the city’s average income.

    The report found that the Conway residents spend $4,916 — or 19% — less on household bills in a year than the national average.

    Loris

    $1,661 on average per household every month

    67th-most expensive city in South Carolina for household bills

    On average, households in Loris households spend $1,661 on household bills, which account for 40% of the average income in the city.

    Household bills in Loris are 22% lower than the national average, with residents paying $5,577 less than the average U.S. household annually.
