HGTV is coming to Macon for the filming of “The American Dream” and business owners are asking the community to show up and show out.

The Home and Garden Television show will be at The Society Garden to film and highlight Macon Saturday.

“I received a call earlier this week from the show’s host, Brooke Joblinkske, who said after talking with people around town and Visit Macon, the Society Garden was the number one choice on where they should film,” said Society Garden co-owner Meagan Evans. “We of course said yes, and look forward to them showcasing Macon and Society Garden.”

The American Dream ” is a nationally recognized and EMMY-nominated show centered around real estate and lifestyle that inspires and uplifts communities across the country through positive media.

The show attracts millions of viewers every month with a strong presence on major cable networks, digital platforms, and popular social media channels, according to the network.

The Society Garden , which opened its doors in 2017, is an outdoor live music venue, beer garden and cocktail bar.

Evans said Society Garden has a place for everyone and is family friendly until 9 p.m., with a kids play area, Liliana’s food truck on-site and live music options during the day that families can enjoy. There is also live music on the main stage every Friday and Saturday night.

“We carefully program our space to include community events ranging from our yearly Mimosa Fest and Taco & Tequila Festival, to wackier one-of-a-kind events like our upcoming Shrek Rave and cocktail theater experiences like our upcoming ‘40 Whacks: A Haunting Cocktail Experience’ this October,” said Evans.

She said over the past seven years, Society Garden has grown to be Macon’s midtown destination, and voted Macon’s best bar and live music venue five years running.

Evans said it was no surprise the network wanted to film at her location. She said owners have created such a unique, eclectic space at Society Garden, they get asked all the time from videographers, photographers and film makers, among others, if they can come film at their space.

“We are honored, and happy to showcase what we have created. We are thrilled to be a part of this production, and that the city of Macon is getting national recognition,” Evans said. “There is always a lot of focus on downtown, and there is a lot happening - but we are thrilled that every once in a while, we also get to help spotlight Midtown and Ingleside Village, and all that we have to offer in our neighborhood.”

The filming is open to the public and Evans said she hopes to see the community there. Doors open at 7 p.m. The band Rock the ‘90s will be playing from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be a $15 cover charge at the door.

The Society Garden is at 2389 Ingleside Ave. and can be reached at 478-508-7095.
