In Macon, remarkable resilience and joy are an unexpected part of the story of the dog selected Middle Georgia’s cutest.

At just 11 months old, Daisy has become a symbol of positive change and unwavering companionship for her owner, Wes Nobles. And with 45% of the 34,353 votes in our poll last week, she has been crowned Middle Georgia’s cutest dog .

Nobles was forced to send his previous dog, Sawyer, to live with his parents when he accepted a job in California and was unable to take Sawyer with him. After moving back to Macon, Nobles felt it was the right thing to do to leave Sawyer, who is now 15, with his parents as he had grown close to Nobles’ mom.

“Daisy represents a healthy change. I would not have bought a puppy or adopted one as I was not looking for another dog. But she kinda came into my life and I had to do what I thought was right,” Nobles said. “This has led to a lifestyle change that is healthier than without her, so I’m grateful for that. I think we both benefited from finding each other.”

Nobles said some of his life plans didn’t go as expected, so after a few years of being by himself, it was time for a change - that’s when Daisy sprung into his life. He said Daisy, a Border Collie, basically goes everywhere with him now. She has quickly become an inseparable part of his daily routine.

Nobles said taking in Daisy was a decision born out of compassion. He said her previous owner struggled with the demands of a high-energy puppy, causing Daisy to be tied up for extended periods of time and without the attention she needed. Nobles reached out to the owner, offering to re-home Daisy. They agreed.

The spontaneous act of kindness led to a profound bond between Nobles and Daisy, transforming both of their lives.

Nobles said he thought Daisy would be a perfect candidate for The Telegraph’s cutest dog contest due to her cute face and pretty ice-blue eyes.

But Daisy’s charm extends far beyond her appearance. Nobles said her journey from a troubled past to a vibrant present is what truly makes her special.

Daisy’s impact on Nobles’ life has been a positive one.

“We wake up earlier now on a schedule, and she gets plenty of exercise in the mornings and evenings,” said Nobles.

Nobles said Daisy is learning to surf and has become quite fond of the water. He said she is a great wing-man for walking downtown and grabbing food or a beer. Nobles said beach trips are awesome and Daisy gets all of the attention.

Daisy’s intelligence is another aspect of her that brings joy to Nobles’ life. He said she is incredible at puzzles, revealing that Daisy quickly masters challenging dog bowls designed to stimulate her mind. Their communication has grown so attuned that he feels he can simply talk to her, and she understands.

Nobles said he was delighted to learn Daisy had won The Telegraph cutest dog contest.

“It’s pretty cool knowing how many other dogs entered the contest,” he said. “I’ve never entered a dog in a contest before, so this is a first for me.”
