A Syracuse, New York, man has admitted he traveled to Macon to purchase guns and then transport them back to Syracuse to sell them, court records show.

Julius Anderson of Syracuse pleaded guilty to conspiring with accomplices Veronica Williams, who is also from Syracuse, and Raeneisha Evans, a Macon man who bought the guns for Anderson to sell illegally. He also pleaded guilty to possessing the weapons from Macon in Syracuse, court records show. All three were indicted last year.

According to the indictment, Evans bought, transported and sold guns between May 25, 2021, and Feb. 26, 2023. Those guns were recovered by Syracuse police between September 2021 and February last year.

Williams was charged with criminal possession of guns, attempting to sell the firearms from Macon, as well as the sale of those firearms and also conspiring with Anderson and Evans. Her case is still pending.

Court records show Evans pleaded guilty earlier this year to conspiring to sell the guns in Syracuse alongside Anderson and Williams, attempting to sell firearms and possessing a loaded gun, but no sentencing date has been scheduled. Police Chief Joseph Cecile of the Syracuse Police Department told media outlet Syracuse.com that Evans purchased 52 guns in Macon and 16 of those guns were recovered in Syracuse.

Some of the guns were being used by gang members, Cecile told Syracuse.com. Four of the guns were used during crimes, one was used during a murder-suicide and some other guns were used in multiple crimes, he said.

Anderson is expected to be sentenced on Oct. 16 in Onondaga County Court in upstate New York.

This is a perfect example if you take guns away from people who obey the law! The bad guys will always have guns.
