Nolensville hits walk-off field goal to win at Rockvale

Nolensville's JD Kuhlman hits a 24-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to win 24-21 at Rockvale.

Rockvale had tied the game with less than two minutes to play after Jaylan Morgan's second touchdown catch of the game plus a 2-point conversion on a Morgan carry.

MBA's Ronit Chandra 54-yard field goal wins the game vs. Pearl-Cohn

How about this? MBA drives down in the final minute inside the Pearl Cohn 40-yard line and sets up a 54-yard field goal by junior kicker Ronit Chandra with 12 seconds left.

It's good. MBA wins 20-18 in the game of the day in Week 1.

Pearl-Cohn suffers a loss for the first time since the 2022 4A state championship game.

Brentwood's comeback is complete vs. Blackman

Brentwood, down 14-3 in the third quarter, scores 21 unanswered points to win the season opener against Blackman 24-14. The comeback was stamped by Jackson Allen's 98-yard interception return TD to put the game away in the final minute.

    Ravenwood wins at Alcoa

Ravenwood takes down Alcoa with a 27-17 win in East Tennessee, avenging Alcoa's 35-14 win back in Williamson County last season. That sets quite the tone for the season.

Brentwood is within a score of Blackman heading into the fourth quarter

    Week 1 roll call

Here are the games our reporters are at throughout the area on Friday night:

Tyler Palmateer is at Blackman-Brentwood. The 2023 6A semifinalists host the Blaze, who are looking to bounce back from a 4-6 season last year.

George Robinson is at MBA, where defending 4A state champion Pearl Cohn will push for an early season statement against the Big Red.

Mike Organ is at BGA-Webb. BGA has a tough start to the season, including Nashville Christian and Davidson Academy in the first four weeks before facing CPA.

Jacob Shames is at Hendersonville, where the Commandos host Gallatin in a Sumner County early-season rivalry game.

Cecil Joyce is in Smyrna for the Bulldogs' season opener against Riverdale.

Tennessee high school football schedule today

Leading the Friday slate is Blackman-Brentwood and Nashville Christian-Davidson Academy. The latter game is the season debut for Georgia QB commitment Jared Curtis of Nashville Christian.

MBA hosts Pearl Cohn in what has become an annual private-public early-season staple in Nashville.

And keep an eye on Ravenwood, who travels to Alcoa in a difficult opening game.

Saturday, Brentwood Academy faces CPA in what should be a good test for the Eagles, who are trying to bounce back from a historically bad 2023 season.
