    300-yard, 3-TD passing night highlights Nashville area boys athlete of week nominees

    There were some great performances during Week 1 of the 2024 TSSAA football season.

    Now, you get your chance to vote on the Nashville area’s best.

    Cast your choice in the poll below for who you think should be the Nashville area boys athlete of the week for the week of Aug. 19-24. Voting will close Thursday at noon.

    Kaedyn Marable, BGA: Marable was 17-of-21 passing for 288 yards and three touchdowns.

    Gavyn Nelson, Brentwood: Nelson caught a 22-yard touchdown and punched in a 1-yard touchdown run on third-and-goal with 3:26 remaining against Blackman, giving the Bruins their go-ahead TD in a 24-14 win.

    Rawls Patterson, CPA: Patterson rushed for 102 yards on 19 carries in CPA’s 31-24 win over Brentwood Academy. He also had a 61-yard TD catch.

    Montae Baldwin, Columbia Academy: Baldwin was impressive with 30 carries for 227 yards rushing and two touchdowns as Columbia Academy beat Middle Tennessee Christian, 42-20.

    Mitchell Carey, DCA: Carey was 9-of-14 for 227 yards and four touchdowns. Carey also ran for 50 yards and a TD.

    Jordan Cooper, Hendersonville: Cooper had 20 carries for 151 yards and three touchdowns for the Commandos in a 19-16 win over Gallatin.

    Trey Hodges, Hillsboro: Hodges was 10-of-14 passing for 168 yards and two touchdowns and had seven carries for 82 yards to lead Hillsboro past McGavock, 25-14.

    Mason Tidwell, Loretto: Tidwell was 11-of-17 passing for 316 yards and three touchdowns and had two carries for 11 yards.

    Tyler Thompson, Marshall County: Thompson was 18-of-27 passing for 191 yards and three touchdowns to lead Marshall County to a 25-22 win over Columbia.

    Ronit Chandra, MBA: Chandra made a 53-yard winning field goal in MBA's 20-18 victory over defending Class 4A champion Pearl-Cohn.

    Jared Curtis, Nashville Christian: Curtis was 20-of-27 passing for 294 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 35 yards and three TDs.

    Omarion Stames, Pearl-Cohn: Stames finished with 13 carries for 177 yards and a touchdown in a 20-18 loss to MBA.

    Maverick Chance, Ravenwood: Chance scored three touchdowns to go with 73 yards rushing as the Raptors upset nine-time defending Class 3A state champs Alcoa, 27-17.

    Patrick Bunch, Spring Hill: Bunch had four kickoff returns for 196 yards and a touchdown, averaging 49 yards a return in Spring Hill's 28-16 loss to Summit.

    Jeremy Smith, Stewarts Creek: Smith had 231 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 13 carries as the Red Hawks knocked off Tullahoma, 33-21.

    Michael Albin, White House: Albin had 16 carries for 156 yards and a touchdown in a 21-20 loss to Portland.
