Two people are dead after a Friday crash on State Route 109 in Wilson County, according to the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.

Fredrick Miller, 78, and Edna Miller, 76, both of Tennessee, were killed, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol's preliminary report. The couple were husband and wife, according to THP.

Authorities responded to the crash at 12:19 p.m. Friday, closed the northbound lanes for much of the afternoon and caused backups in both directions around the 5700 block of Highway 109, north of the Spence Creek neighborhood near BJ's Trailers, police said.

Three vehicles were involved in the incident, the THP report said. Fredrick and Edna Miller were in a 2005 Ford Ranger.

The driver of a 2018 Nissan Titan was traveling north on Highway 109. A 2024 Lexus RX3 was stopped in the center turn lane preparing to turn left onto Northern Road and the Ford Ranger was heading south, according to the preliminary investigation.

The Titan passed traffic in the turn lane and crashed into the back of the Lexus, the report said, noting that the Titan was speeding at the time. After impact, the Titan veered into the southbound lanes and hit the Ford Ranger head-on, the report said.

The drivers of the Titan and Lexus were noted in the report as having injuries. Their conditions were unknown Saturday.

Charges could be filed against the driver of Titan, pending the outcome of the investigation, the THP report said.

The occupants of the Ford Ranger and Lexus were wearing seatbelts, but the driver of the Titan was not, the report said. All lanes of traffic had reopened as of late Friday afternoon, police said.

All these comments acknowledging that they know the Titan driver was wrong, but does anyone do anything to pressure their local law enforcement to engage and fix these issues? This type of driving is far too common to be acting surprised by it. Shame on you if you’re doing no more than commenting on it. Tell your friends and neighbors to stop the behavior, and tell your LE agencies to enforce it.

The bigger our cities become the more you will see stories like this one. That idiot driver of the Titan should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON DEATH ROW!! My heart goes out to the Beautiful Couple who were killed. They were someone’s family and now they’re gone forever. Life……it’s over in 5 minutes. 😢
