Titans, WeGo announce free bus rides on home gamedays

The Tennessee Titans announced on Tuesday that all WeGo public transit bus routes will be free to the public, not just Titans fans, to ride on Titans home gamedays.

“This is a great opportunity for Titans fans to experience riding WeGo Public Transit to and from Nissan Stadium, and it’s a free way for anyone to explore a new part of our city on game days,” Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell said.

WeGo tested the pilot program at concerts and two Titans preseason home games at Nissan Stadium and found success in decreasing egress times after events.

The test program has now been expanded into the regular NFL season.

With the new stadium construction, parking at the stadium has been significantly decreased leaving fans to plan new ways to get to and from the game or events at Nissan Stadium.

“This improved bus service will help fans get closer to Nissan Stadium for Titans games,” said WeGo CEO Steve Bland. “That, combined with later hours on our most frequent routes, makes taking WeGo Public Transit to a Nashville event an even better option for everyone.”

Titans officials said fans have spent up to two hours leaving the stadium area after events, but now, with fans planning ahead and using the WeGo systems, leaving busy events shouldn't take more than 45 minutes.

There are four routes that stop directly in front of Nissan Stadium at South 1 st St. and Woodland St.

Route four, the Shelby route, starts at the Greenfield Outbound Station off Gallatin Pike. It makes its way through the outer East Nashville corridor through South Inglewood, Porter Heights, Lockland Springs and Shelby Hills.

Whites Creek Route 14 starts its journey to Nissan Stadium off Clarksville Pike and 26th Ave N. Taking passengers through North Nashville, there are stops in Bordeaux, Northwest Nashville and the Haynes area before making its way through Cumberland Heights.

Dickerson Pike Route 23 starts at the Wal-Mart on Dickerson Road and travels south through Highland Heights.

Route 56 is the Gallatin Pike route that runs from the Rivergate Inbound Station, south through Madison Park into the inner portion of East Nashville down Gallatin Avenue.

Some routes on game days may be affected with stop closures, but there will be signs directing riders to the closet stop on the route.

Riders also have the option to park at the parking garage attached to WeGo Central and ride the WeGo transportation to their destination as well.

WeGo also has an existing Titans Express Train on gamedays that starts in Lebanon with stops in Hamilton Springs, Martha, Mt. Juliet, Hermitage and Donelson.
