Four-time Grammy winner and two-time Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year Keith Urban has been tapped to host the next edition of CBS' New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash.

The event will air Dec. 31 from 8-10 p.m. ET/PT and 10:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. ET/PT on CBS and stream on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the special airs).

As previously announced, Kane Brown and Jelly Roll will join Urban from downtown Music City's Bicentennial Mall stage. Entertainment Tonight's Rachel Smith will also return as co-host.

    Keith Urban, in brief

On Sept. 20, Urban released "HIGH," his first album in nearly four years. It features the Lainey Wilson duet "Go Home W U" and country radio hit "Messed Up As Me."

As a New Year's Eve host, expect the possibility of a redux of his "pop-up" performance that drew 25,000 people to Lower Broadway to mark the release of his album.

He's never lost the spark that kicked off his rise to fame in Nashville 25 years ago.

"That's where I started, playing cover songs four hours a night, five nights a week. Watching everybody sing along with all these hit songs by other artists (made me) wish I could write just one that people in the audience might know and sing along with," Urban recently told Apple Music Radio's Kelleigh Bannen.

Over 200,000 local revelers and tourists are expected to attend the event. New Year's Eve has, alongside CMA Fest and Fourth of July festivities, seen tourists spend almost 20% more annually in the past five years as the city has welcomed 5% more visitors than before COVID-19's quarantine.

Last year's edition of "New Year's Eve Live: Nashville's Big Bash" featured over 50 back-to-back performances from acts including Lainey Wilson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Thomas Rhett, Elle King, Grace Bowers and Jackson Dean.

A 75% increase in viewership led to nearly 8 million homes watching the event, making it the highest rated country music program of 2023.
