Brentwood Academy QB, Tennessee recruit George MacIntyre talks Vols loss, visit

A George MacIntyre was present the last time Vanderbilt's football team defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide in 1984.

No, not the Brentwood Academy senior quarterback and Tennessee recruit who watched his Volunteers fall to Arkansas on Saturday, the same day the Commodores stunned top-ranked Alabama 40-35 and a goalpost from FirstBank Stadium made its way down Broadway and into the Cumberland River.

MacIntyre's grandfather with the same name was the head coach at Vanderbilt for that 1984 game.

"Everyone knows the SEC is the best conference in the country," MacIntyre said. "As far as Vanderbilt goes, I'm happy for them. Really cool to see them get a win for Nashville.

"Tennessee, they're going to bounce back."

The Eagles will be in Knoxville on Thursday to face Knoxville Catholic. It will be MacIntyre's first game in his future home city.

"Try to start off with a bang and get a win, then enjoy the game on Saturday," MacIntyre said.
