Nashville Christian quarterback Jared Curtis has decommitted from Georgia football, the five-star recruit announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, Thursday.

"The recruiting process has been an exciting time and a huge learning process for me," wrote Curtis, who is ranked No. 1 in Tennessee for the 2026 class and the No. 1-ranked quarterback in the nation, according to 247Sports Composite.

"This morning I spoke with Coach (Kirby) Smart and (offensive coordinator) Coach (Mike) Bobo and let them know that I still love Georgia. But I'd like to take some more time to explore all my options so I can make the best, most informed decision for my future. I let them know it just doesn't seem right or fair to stay committed while checking out other programs. I want people to know where I stand and I've learned that making big decisions takes time."

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Curtis committed to Georgia in March . He has offers that include Alabama, Tennessee, Colorado, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, South Carolina Miami and Oklahoma, among others.

Curtis said he was still "locked in" with Georgia as early as last week after Nashville Christian's 45-7 win over Columbia Academy .

"For sure (there are other schools reaching out), but as of right now, still locked in with Georgia," Curtis told The Tennessean last Friday.

When asked last week what he wanted to get out of conversations with other programs, Curtis pointed to developing relationships.

"Just still being grateful," he said. "Anything can happen, just building relationships still with the coaches."

Curtis told The Tennessean in August that he was still firmly committed to Georgia, despite the continued recruitment by other schools. USC and Lincoln Riley offered in June after Curtis traveled to Los Angeles and South Carolina maintained a presence.

Curtis is 106-for-156 passing for 1,624 yards and 18 touchdowns with three interceptions through seven games for Nashville Christian (6-1). He threw for 2,522 yards, 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions last year. As a freshman, Curtis led Nashville Christian to the Division II-A state championship game.

Curtis, and Brentwood Academy quarterback, George MacIntyre ― a Tennessee commit ― are two of the most highly rated high school quarterbacks to come out of the Nashville area. And Curtis has taken advantage of his high recruiting profile , using the sports marketing agency, QB Reps, as well as signing endorsement deals.
