McDonald's Boo Buckets vs. Dunkin Munchkin Bucket: Which will you choose for Halloween in Tennessee?

It is that time of year again...it's Boo Bucket season! And while Millennials' nostalgic hearts are going into overdrive with the return of McDonald's classic Halloween bucket , the fast food giant might have a bit of a threat on its hands this spooky season.

Dunkin' is taking a stab at the bucket game this Halloween with the Munchkins Bucket for those looking for a sweet treat this October as part of their new Halloween menu. Both the Boo Bucket and the Munchkin Bucket were released this week.

The question is, is there room in this world for two Halloween buckets?

Both Halloween treats are only for a limited time at the two fast food chains. So, here's everything you need to know to get your hands on both.

How do I get McDonald's Boo Buckets this year?

McDonald's classic Halloween treat will replace the classic Happy Meal box, so all you have to do is order a Happy Meal at a location near you. This year's Monster Boo Bucket, in four different designs, is available at stores nationwide, but only while supplies last.

How much is a Boo Bucket?

Boo Bucket prices are determined by individual restaurants and may vary based on location, according to McDonald's.

On average, a Happy Meal can cost anywhere from $4-8, so that's what you'd pay for a Boo Bucket this year.

When was the Boo Bucket first released?

Most older Millenials remember the iconic buckets used by trick-or-treaters in the late 80s and early 90s. The Boo Bucket was originally released in 1986 by the chain as a replacement for the traditional Happy Meal cardboard box and meant to be kept for trick-or-treating.

What is the Dunkin' Munchkin Halloween Bucket?

The Munchkin Bucket holds the sweet treat of Dunkin's doughnut holes. The assortment of up to 50 munchkins comes in a purple bucket with some classic Halloween characters and designs on the side.

These treats are available now at stores nationwide, along with Dunkin's new lineup of Halloween-inspired "tricks and treats" .

Here are some of the other items available:

    • Potion Macchiato: Blends layers of espresso and milk with a vibrant, purple marshmallow ube flavor; available hot or iced.
    • Spider Specialty Donut: Adorned with purple frosting and topped with a Glazed Chocolate Munchkins Donut Hole Treat, complete with a chocolate drizzle for spider lets and white drizzle forming the eyes.
    • Halloween Munchkins Bucket: A purple bucket, illustrated with a sweet Halloween motif, can be filled with a 50-count assortment of Munchkins Donut Hole Treats, with new Halloween sprinkle-covered Munchkins added to the assortment.
