NASCAR Las Vegas predictions 2024: Expert picks for Cup Series race

The NASCAR Cup Series opens the Round of 8 with the South Point 400 at the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Eight drivers are still eligible to win the Cup Series title, and the next three races will decide which four will race for the title in the Championship 4 at Phoenix next month.

Kyle Larson won at Vegas in the spring, and he is coming off a win last week at the Charlotte Roval.

Mike Organ's pick: Kyle Larson, No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

My colleagues ragged on me for picking Kyle Larson so often in the regular season, so I backed off. Now we're seeing why I liked him. Larson was dominant at Roval last week on the way to winning his sixth race this season. The only thing Larson hasn't done this year is win back-to-back, and he will get that done Sunday at Las Vegas where he also won in March.

Tom Kreager's pick: Denny Hamlin, No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota

Denny has been super quiet on the track in recent weeks. It's time for him to make noise. He won at Vegas in 2021 and has six top-five finishes at the 1.5-mile oval.

Nick Gray's pick: Ryan Blaney, No. 12 Team Penske Ford

Blaney has four top-10s and two DNFs in six playoff races, and Las Vegas doesn't produce the same chaos as Watkins Glen or Talladega. So pencil me in for Blaney, with six top-5 finishes in 16 Vegas races, to continue his title defense all the way to Phoenix with a victory on Sunday.
