Lap 261: Joey Logano passes Daniel Suarez for the lead at Las Vegas

Joey Logano passed Daniel Suarez on the apron of the front stretch for the lead. However, Christopher Bell is still lurking and is trying to get to the front.

Lap 257: Joey Logano catching Daniel Suarez, Christopher Bell still lurking

Just 10 laps to go, Christopher Bell has cut his deficit down to under seven seconds against Daniel Suarez. However, Joey Logano is getting help from teammate Ryan Blaney, who has a damaged car, to try and race for the lead.

Bell, is cutting down about a second per lap. He's also getting help from a teammate, Ty Gibbs.

Lap 247: Daniel Suarez leads, but Christopher Bell is running him down

Daniel Suarez flipped his pit strategy and has a lead over Christopher Bell. Joey Logano is in second, 2.2 seconds behind Suarez with less than 20 laps to go.

Bell is trying to run down the No. 99 car and has made up big chunks of on-track time to try and catch Suarez.

Lap 230: Green flag pit stops begin, Christopher Bell dives into pits for final scheduled stop

Just 37 laps to go, Christopher Bell is in for four tires and fuel. He was able to get out and away quickly with a solid stop. Alex Bowman is close to Bell, now within a second.

Other drivers will make their final stops to see if they can get around Bell, somehow. He's the car to beat.

Lap 198: Christopher Bell brings field to green again

Christopher Bell got a great restart with a push from William Byron and has the lead at Las Vegas. Bell has led 126 laps so far today.

Lap 193: Ty Gibbs spins out in backstretch, brings out fifth caution

Ty Gibbs had been running an aggressive line on the outside of the corners. He checked up in turn 2 and spun coming out of the corner. He kept it off the wall and avoided contact with other drivers. He will go two laps down but will be able to continue.

Lap 172: Christopher Bell leads field back to green at Las Vegas

Christopher Bell and Martin Truex Jr. led the field back to green for the final stage of Sunday's race. Bell cleared Truex Jr. and has several playoff drivers, including William Byron and Joey Logano, trying to make moves to get to the front.

Lap 168: Denny Hamlin has pit road issue, but avoids penalty

Add another playoff driver with issues on pit road. This one, however, is not costly.

Denny Hamlin's left-rear tire did not go on properly when the No. 11 team dropped the jack. However, the team caught the mistake quickly and was able to avoid Hamlin leaving the pit box with a loose wheel and incurring a penalty that could have taken him out of the running.

Hamlin runs 22nd while Christopher Bell continues to lead.

Lap 165: Christopher Bell holds off Martin Truex Jr. to win stage 2

Martin Truex Jr. tried his best, but couldn't pass his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell for the lead in the final laps of the second stage. Elliott is now 33rd and 27 laps down.

Lap 125: Christopher Bell pits from lead under green flag, Kyle Larson has issues on pit stop

Christopher Bell has led 77 laps today and will make his regularly scheduled pit stop. He reports a loose race car but has raced comfortably today.

Kyle Larson had a lengthy stop after the lug nuts on the No. 5 car did not come off properly. The team removed the jack too quickly on the right side. Larson has to come back into the pits to ensure the left side wheels are tightened.

Larson's first stop was 27 seconds. He is now three laps down and running 31st.

Lap 96: Joey Logano leads field back to green after wild caution

Joey Logano brings the field back to green after the caution. Ty Gibbs stole the lead in turn 3 and Christopher Bell is now looking for the lead again.

Lap 90: Chase Elliott crashes, Tyler Reddick flips

Tyler Reddick slid through the infield grass after getting pinned into the turn 4 wall against Chase Elliott. Reddick slid through the grass, hit the quarter-mile track in the grass and flipped once. He landed on the wheels and drove it back to the pits.

Ryan Blaney also spun after a broken right rear tow-link after hitting the wall to avoid the wreck.

Lap 87: Kyle Larson had piece of aluminum in nose of No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet

Kyle Larson had a piece of aluminum in the left front fender of the No. 5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. Just a shard of metal stuck in the car. The team removed it and put a piece of tape on the spot.

Martin Truex Jr. was the first of several drivers to take two tires under caution. Christopher Bell took four tires and dropped six spots on the pit lane.

Truex is scored as the leader. Erik Jones was given the free pass but had a wheel come off the race car, yielding a penalty and suspensions coming later for members of the No. 43 team.

Lap 63: Austin Dillon crashes in turn 3, out of the race

Austin Dillon was running 27th in the field when his No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet got hooked by Daniel Hemric and slammed into the turn 3 wall. Dillon is out of the race, finishing 37th in last place, and pointed to Hemric out of frustration.

"I watched him watch me go into the corner," Hemric said on the radio.

Hemric's front bumper hit Dillon's rear bumper, getting the car off balance and sending it into the wall.

"He just flat out wrecked me, I don't know why," Dillon said to reporters after being checked out of the infield care center.

Lap 46: Christopher Bell cycles back to lead after green flag stops

Christopher Bell cycled back to the lead after the first round of green flag pit stops and still holds about a 2.5-second lead over Tyler Reddick. Ryan Blaney is down to 22nd after his pit stop, two spots down from where he ran when the leaders started pitting.

Lap 37: Christopher Bell, Tyler Reddick starting green flag pit stops halfway through stage 1

Lap 30: Christopher Bell remains up front, Ryan Blaney driving through the field

Ryan Blaney started last because of a crash in practice. He started 37th and now runs 20th and said over the radio he's upset other drivers are blocking his No. 12 Team Penske Ford.

    2. Tyler Reddick
    3. Alex Bowman
    4. Kyle Larson
    5. Denny Hamlin

Lap 1: Green flag at Las Vegas

Cars are already going three and four-wide in the first corners. Prepare for a chaotic race. Christopher Bell leads the first lap of the South Point 400.

What to watch for in Sunday's South Point 400 NASCAR race, track position and pit strategy are keys

The racing surface at Las Vegas Motor Speedway is older. There will be cars sliding around 20-degree banking in the turns and anywhere from 9-12 degrees of banking in the straightaways.

Drivers were holding their cars full throttle during qualifying and raced each other closely in the spring race. Watch for close pack racing throughout today's race.

Teams have nine sets of tires to work with and have a fuel window of about 62-67 laps. Meaning that drivers will have to pit once during each of the first two stages, likely between the stages and potentially twice in the final stage.

Also, watch the race on pit road. Track position will be important for today's race.

Engines are fired for NASCAR race at Las Vegas

The drivers are ready to race 400 miles, or more, at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The engines are fired for today's South Point 400.
