BOYKINS – Patricia (“Pat”) Lassiter Lewis, 81, passed away peacefully July 24, 2024, in her home surrounded by family. Pat was born in Franklin, Virginia on Sept. 12, 1942, to the late Mildred Bolton Lassiter and Marvin Randolph Lassiter Sr.

igh School. She met her late husband and love of her life Robert “Bobby” Lewis on Main Street in Boykins in 1962 when Pat was leaving work and Bobby called out “Are you going to take me for a ride?” Pat couldn’t remember exactly what she said but was certain she said “Yes.” After this encounter, they were inseparable and were married on Jan. 27, 1963, at Boykins Baptist Church.

Pat was passionate about serving her community. She worked at the local bank in Boykins for more than 30 years. She has been a lifelong member of the Boykins Baptist Church and served as Treasurer for over 40 years.

Pat enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Bobby on bus and cruise trips. She also enjoyed spending time with her cat, Sandy, who was gifted to her one Christmas by her granddaughter, Kelby and daughter-in-law, Michelle. What a surprise this gift was to Pat! She was unsure at first but couldn’t say no to her granddaughter and ended up falling in love with Sandy. She was one of her granddaughter’s #1 supporters. Always telling people how proud she was of the many school activities, softball games and pageants Kelby participated in. She enjoyed going on shopping trips to Belk, cooking homemade meals in her kitchen and hosting her family and friends at her home. Pat will forever be remembered as the kind, generous, strong and God-loving woman she was.

As 1 Corinthians 16:14 states “Let all that you do be done in love.” Pat was a true testament to this verse and reflected that in her actions to those around her.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, William (“Bill”) Johnson Lewis and his wife, Michelle; granddaughter, Kelby Lewis Harrup and her husband, Braxton; nephew, Clete Lassiter and his wife, Renee and cousins Paige Williams and Martha Ann Holland. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (“Bobby”) Lewis, Mildred Lassiter (mother), Marvin Lassiter (father), Randolph Buck Lassiter (brother), Thelma Davis Smith (mother-in-law) and Hinton T. Smith (father-in-law).

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday July 26 at Boykins Baptist Church with Pastor Raymond Bunn and the Rev. Steven Gibson officiating. The burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery in Boykins. The family will be receiving friends at 2 p.m. on Friday July 26 in the fellowship hall at Boykins Baptist Church.

Memorial donations can be made to Boykins Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 347 Boykins, VA 23827 and Boykins Baptist Church at P.O. Box 316, Boykins, VA 23827. We would like to thank Shanna Long and Dianne Suiter for their exceptional care. We would also like to thank the staff of Courtland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center for their care.
