Beginning September 21 at 7 a.m. through September 22 at 7 p.m., crews will start emergency repairs on the Necarney Creek Bridge on U.S. 101 at milepost 39.5. The first step, and the reason for this closure, is to remove the concrete that is hanging below the bridge.

Traffic can detour around the temporary full closure by taking either OR 53 to U.S. 26 or U.S. 101 to OR 6.

Travelers taking U.S. 26 should expect extra long delays in both directions. Our work at the Little Humbug Creek Bridge , milepost 8.2, has 24/7 single lane closures through the end of September. We are working on building the second half of the bridge and there aren't any additional lanes we can open.

We know this work will impact traffic in the area, but these emergency repairs are required for us to quickly and safely reopen this bridge. We'll be back soon to install permanent repairs.

We encourage all travelers to use caution, plan ahead for extra long delays and to visit TripCheck.com first to get real-time updates on traffic and impacts.

    Background

The Necarney Creek Bridge was built in 1937 and the section that collapsed was part of the original concrete sidewalk and guardrail.
