    Vote now for the candidates in the Ashland Times-Gazette Athlete of the Week poll.

    The performances in the poll are from May 13-18. The poll will run from 10 a.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Wednesday. Winners will be announced at the end of the week.

    Below are some of the top performances from this past week:

    Athlete of the Week candidates

    Luke Bryant, Ashland baseball

    Bryant picked up the win as the starting pitcher in the Arrows' 3-2 home win on Thursday over Toledo St. Johns as Ashland clinched its first sectional title since 2012. Bryant pitched the full seven innings, struck out 10 hitters and walked one while allowing three hits and two earned runs.

    Braylon Oneal, Black River track and field

    Oneal won the 300 hurdles (39.96) and finished second (15.54) in the 110 hurdles at the Division III district track meet on Friday at Norwayne High School to advance to this week's regional meet. Oneal also ran the first leg of the Pirates' 4x100 relay team that won the district title, while setting the school and district meet record with a time of 43.29.

    Scotty Hickey, Mapleton track and field

    Hickey qualified for this week's regional meet by advancing in three individual events at the Division III district track meet on Friday at Norwayne High School. Hickey placed fourth (11.42) in the 100 meters, third (22.86) in the 200 meters and fourth in the high jump (6-feet-1).
