The Ashland Public Library will launch its summer reading program at a Touch-A-Truck that will include enjoyment, education and lasting memories.

Get ready for an expedition on Ashland Main Street 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 8. An array of vehicles will be on display. Start the adventure with a quiet hour 10-11 a.m. designed for those who prefer a quieter exploration.

The library will park its fleet of volunteers along Main Street, transforming the area from Claremont Avenue to Union Street into a hub of exploration and discovery. It's a perfect playground for families and kids of all ages to climb aboard, take the driver's seat, and uncover the secrets of various vehicles. The machines come from local businesses and community organizations, each with a story to tell and features to explore.

Dive into a world of wonder with vehicles like police cars, rugged construction machinery, a cheerful school bus, and the heroic firetruck. Learn from the friendly faces behind the wheels who bring these vehicles to life every day.

The Friends of the Ashland Public Library are joining the adventure, setting up shop with a treasure trove of books, audiobooks, DVDs and CDs for sale 9 a.m.-4 p.m. inside the library. They're also planning a giveaway for the little explorers.

The bookmobile and outreach vehicles will be available to visit. The traveling ambassadors of literacy are not only ready to show the library’s rich offerings, but visitors also can register for the summer reading program.
