    Hillsdale's Kael Lewis voted Ashland Times-Gazette Athlete of the Week

    Hillsdale football player Kael Lewis was voted as the Ashland Times-Gazette Athlete of the Week for August 19-24.

    The voting took place online from 10 a.m. on Monday morning through 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

    Last Friday against Black River at home, Lewis threw six touchdown passes (all in the first half) and zero interceptions in his first varsity start at quarterback and helped the Falcons win 44-12 in Week 1. Lewis' six touchdown passes set the Hillsdale school record for the most touchdown passes thrown in a single game.

    Lewis earned 34.2 percent of the vote (373 votes), while Northwestern boys soccer player Mateo Dague finished second with 31.1 percent (340 votes) and Northwestern volleyball player Alexa Riffle placed third with 15.3 percent (167 votes).

    The voting polls for next week's Athlete of the Week candidates will be open on Monday at 10 a.m.
