While the U.S. and Canadian Coast Guards have already made it clear they don't want anyone partaking in Sunday's Port Huron Float Down, Mother Nature may also dissuade some participants.

It looks like it will be a rainy weekend — if you can believe a Michigan forecast.

Cloudy skies are expected this morning, followed by scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Gusty winds and small hail are possible, with a high of 70.

Scattered thunderstorms are possible Saturday, with a high of 77.

Sunday will be cloudy with showers, with a high 73 and a north, northwest wind at 10 to 15 mph.

"The overall recommendation is that it is very dangerous, especially with inclement weather, but if they are going to participate, always have a Personal Floatation Device (PFD), let someone know when you are going in and when you expect to get out of the water, a paddle or other way to steer your raft, a marine band VHF radio or cell phone to be able to call for help, and before getting in the water, make sure you know what the weather is going to do while you are floating," Justin Miller, director of St. Clair County Homeland Security and Emergency Management said in an email. "I would also recommend that you never float alone and be alcohol and drug free. The water temp is dangerous for long-term exposure and within an hour or less hypothermia can set in."
