Northbound M-19 will be closed from Miller Road to M-46 in Sandusky beginning on Aug. 26.

The closure will allow construction crews to work on improvements to M-19 and M-46, according to a news release from the Michigan Department of Transportation. The construction is part of a $26.4 million investment into both roads.

Those who would normally travel north via M-19 will instead have to take a detour onto Miller Road to Campbell Road and onto M-46. Southbound traffic will remain open.

Part of M-46 will also be closed from Maple Valley West to M-19. Traffic will take a detour via Dawson Street to Argyle Street and onto North Elk Street.

The construction will replace a bridge on M-46 over the Black River, upgrade traffic signals, sidewalks and guardrails, and replace a storm sewer.

M-46 traffic is expected to reopen in October, while M-19 traffic will reopen in November.
