Port Huron Police apprehended three Mexican citizens Monday after they were reportedly seen crossing the U.S.-Canadian border on a raft.

A news release states the U.S. Coast Guard alerted police that three males were seen crossing the St. Clair River around 10:18 a.m. The raft was reportedly abandoned near the mouth of the Black River.

Port Huron Police officers located the three men around 10:25 a.m. on Grand River Avenue. All three were identified as Mexican citizens and detained for the alleged illegal entry into the United States.

Port Huron Assistant Police Chief Jeremy Young said all three suspects and their belongings have been turned over to U.S. Border Patrol.
