Summer is coming to a sizzling end.

A week after some downright fall-like temperatures, eastern Ohio is about to experience a string of hot summery days.

The National Weather Service warns the next few days are going to be quite toasty and uncomfortable for some.

And the threat of severe storms is returning.

Temperatures will start out the week in lower 90s and rise to the upper 90s by Tuesday with the so-called heat index (what it feels like) near or above 100 degrees in some communities.

The heat will continue on Wednesday with expected highs well into the 90s, with an expected high of 96 degrees in Dover/New Philadelphia, according to the weather service.

The threat of severe storms rises on Tuesday and Wednesday as a front is expected to cross over eastern Ohio.

Aside from high humidity, the storms could bring damaging wind gusts.

The average daily high for this time of year is in the lower 80s.

How can I prepare for heatwave?

The weather service is urging residents to stay hydrated this week if you are going to venture outside.

Drinks with electrolytes can also help avoid dehydration.

Wear light colored clothing and apply sunscreen every two hours.

And if you are working outside, they suggest frequent rests in the shade.
