Smalls Sliders restaurant will host a Can Drop in Alexandria at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at 1400 MacArthur Drive while also honoring Peabody Magnet High School basketball coach Charles Smith as a Smalls Town Hero for his community contributions.

According to a news release issued by Smalls Sliders, the chain “specializes in fresh, cooked-to-order cheeseburger sliders—small in size, BIG in taste.”

“You may be asking yourself… have I heard of Smalls Sliders? The answer is yes, and now you’re about to taste it closer to home in Alexandria,” Smalls Sliders Field Marketing Manager Jasmine Rozier said in the release. “Our attention-grabbing Smorange Can is not only going to stand out visually as a pillar of our community but become part of our daily routines — from celebrating our local friends and neighbors to sponsoring local events and more. We can’t wait to say ‘Thanks for Slidin’-Thru!’”

The release goes on to say that Smith has been an educator, basketball coach and bus driver at Peabody High School for 52 years. He has nine state championships and 1,208 game wins as a coach, the most of any in Louisiana. What he is most proud of is helping facilitate more than 70 scholarships for his players to go play collegiate basketball.
