Police: Dispute between half-brothers leads to one shooting, killing other in Pineville

A dispute between two half-brothers Wednesday afternoon led one to shoot and kill the other, according to the Pineville Police Department.

The department was called to the 200 block of Lee Street about 2:30 p.m., where officers found 20-year-old Jacquez Burks with a gunshot wound, reads a news release.

Burks, who lived in Pineville, was taken to a hospital, but he later died.

Within two hours, police had arrested Steven Alan Bush, 20. He was booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center #1 on charges of second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. Bail is set at $1,025,000.

Online jail records show he is from Pineville, while the news release states he is from Natchitoches.
