    Pedestrian, motorcyclist suffer 'major' injuries after Alexandria crash, say police

    A pedestrian and a motorcyclist suffered "major injuries" Wednesday night after a wreck, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

    The department responded to a call about a crash about 9:12 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and North 3rd Street, reads a news release. Both the pedestrian and motorcyclist were traveling in the left-hand lane of U.S. 71 when the crash happened, it reads.

    Both were taken to a hospital. No other information was released.

    An investigation is continuing, and a toxicology screening was performed. Those results are pending.
