Popular fried chicken restaurant closes in Paso Robles

A popular fried chicken restaurant has closed its doors in Paso Robles — but it’s not gone for good.

Dubs Paso Soulfood Grill — named by Yelp last year as home to the 12th best fried chicken in the United States — made the announcement on its website but said it will continue to provide online orders and catering.

“Thank you to our community and customers!” the note said. “We have made the difficult decision to closed (sic) our Park St. location. We greatly appreciate everyone that has supported us through the last 2 years.”

According to the website, Dubs is open for delivery Tuesday to Sunday, 1:30 to 8 p.m., but it said those hours can change daily.

Yelp ranked the best fried chicken in the nation. And one spot is right here in SLO County

Only one menu item is listed: Dubs chicken combo, which includes two wings, one breast, black-eyed peas, greens and cornbread for $24.99.

The restaurant did not respond to The Tribune’s request for comment at the time this article was published.

When The Tribune visited the Paso location, all the windows were papered up and the sign atop the restaurant was covered.

Yelp reviewers loved Paso Robles restaurant

Dubs Paso Soul Food Grill opened in March 2022 at 1401 Park St. in downtown Paso Robles.

It quickly developed an enthusiastic following with Yelp reviewers

“This place is what Paso Robles needed!” one Yelp user wrote in their review. “A must try that I highly recommend.”

Another Yelp reviewer called Dubs “by far the best fried chicken I’ve had in SLO County,” praising the restaurant’s greens, black-eyed peas and cornbread.
