Ty Lewis, the city manager in Paso Robles, has been out on a medical leave of absence since early August, he told The Tribune on Thursday.

Lewis’ doctors placed him on leave at the start of August, after the city’s top administrator experienced heart and blood pressure issues.

The medical problems surfaced publicly in May, when Lewis collapsed during a city meeting and was transported to the hospital, he said.

Lewis previously served as the city’s police chief before being promoted in 2021.

Lewis does not know when his leave will conclude. He is currently in the process of seeking medical treatment.

In Lewis’ absence, Chris Huot is serving as acting city manager.

Huot has served as the assistant city manager in Paso Robles for over two years and has worked in city management for 13 years.

“Our residents and visitors can rest assured that the City is operating without disruption,” Huot told The Tribune in an email. “Our dedicated team is fully committed to providing essential services and ensuring the well-being of our community.”
